Getting Involved

The only requirement for becoming an RSVP volunteer is for a person to be 55 or older. The volunteer needs to be willing to serve on a volunteer assignment, to be capable of doing the assignment and be willing to accept supervision as required.

There are no restrictions based on education, income or experience. Nor are their any barriers relating to citizenship, race, gender, creed, national origin, political affiliation or disabilities.

If after 90 days, a senior volunteer has not done any volunteer work, the volunteer will be dropped from the program. The volunteer can be reinstated upon request or continuation of recorded volunteer time.

A Registration form is available upon request from the RSVP office (632-2113) or on this web site.

Visits to the RSVP office are recommended. The new volunteer will have a chance to meet the RSVP staff, find out more about RSVP and the job opportunities available. The visit also gives the staff a chance to find out more about the volunteer and his/her expectations and interests for better placement.

RSVP FITS YOUR SCHEDULE

RSVP strives to maintain flexibility in the scheduling of assignments. Assignment hours vary according to the needs of the agencies, but you may select an assignment that fits your schedule. We realize that you may have planned an activity that might conflict with your volunteering. If you want to travel, work part-time, or alter your schedule due to conflicting commitments, just notify your station or the RSVP office.
